DIY floor hanger

When entering the house, the first thing a person is looking for is an opportunity to hang outerwear on a hanger. This is a mandatory ritual, like washing hands after the street. And here the main thing is that the hanger is convenient and functional, can accommodate the required amount of clothing, and does not seem overloaded. Most headsets already have a built-in closet or hanging hanger. But there are some moments when the floor hanger will come in handy, it will decorate the interior and bring zest to it.

Features, Pros and Cons of Floor Hangers

If you want to be original, emphasize the style of the interior, and show everyone your sense of taste, then you will meet the idea to create a unique floor hanger with a bang. Anyone who can hold a hammer in their hands, or a drill will be able to craft such a structure without harming the work. Creating a product does not take much time, but the final result will definitely please the eye.

Everyone knows that there are two types of hangers: floor and wall, they have their advantages and disadvantages. And, if you have already decided that you want the floor construction, you should understand what you have to face.

Pros of the floor hanger:

  • mobility - it is easy to transfer it to any room in the home, put it in a convenient place;
  • a structure measuring 1.5 in width can accommodate a sufficient amount of clothing on trempels, thereby freeing up space in your closet;
  • as a rule, clothes on such a hanger hang on the shoulders, which means that it will retain its appearance and quality for a long time, will not tear or stretch;
  • it is possible to create a product with drawers for shoes, or a separate place for it.

Of the minuses, perhaps, it can only be noted that the floor design for clothes can look bulky in small rooms. But there is always an option to make a product on one leg with hooks at the top.

The material for creativity can be wood, plywood, metal and PVC pipes. Even a schoolboy can make such an addition to the hallway, because the process is simple, and it will give the master pleasure, provided that the material is selected correctly.

Wooden clothes hanger

Most craftsmen prefer wood; anything can be made from it; therefore, wood is so common in furniture products.

IMPORTANT! To work on the floor structure of wood, choose hardwood.

A hanger looks very impressive, resembling the shape of a trunk and a tree branch. It is functional, saves space, and is suitable for both large and small rooms. You need to stock up:

  • two sheets of plywood 70 × 170 in size, 18 mm thick;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • furniture glue;
  • emery paper;
  • in pencil.

For a better view of the finished structure, it is necessary to draw a drawing, apply the drawing directly on the plywood sheet. In order not to draw it twice, simply fold 2 pieces of material together and cut them along the contour with a jigsaw. Work slowly, because the details must be the same. In the finished two parts, you need to make slots. In one we do it in the middle from top to bottom. The width should equal the thickness of the plywood sheet. On the other workpiece exactly the same, only from the bottom up. Well process the cut edges with sandpaper, and lubricate the cuts with furniture glue, and put the parts on top of one another. Lock them. After that, you can paint the finished product and decorate as you see fit.

For someone who appreciates creativity and bold design decisions, the idea of creating a hanger from a whole tree, or rather the trunk, will seem interesting. To implement the plan, you have to find a suitable trunk. It should be completely dry, but it will be better if the tree turns out to be hardwood, clean it completely of bark and lower branches, leave only knots at a distance of a meter from the floor. When the wood is peeled and all branches are trimmed, you can proceed to the stand. The thicker it is, the more stable the whole structure will turn out. The shape of the stand can be very different, it all depends on your imagination, and you can fix the rack on it using self-tapping screws.

IMPORTANT! Do not clean the trunk of traces of bark beetle, as the material will look even more textured, and it is not worth covering the finished product with varnish, because the highlight is in naturalness.

DIY hanger made of copper pipes

Copper floor structures are often used in offices, they are lightweight, and you can place quite a lot of clothes on them. For work, you will need:

  • copper pipes 2 pieces of 1m 50 cm - this will serve as a support and height of the future design;
  • 1 m copper bar on which things will hang;
  • short tubes 20 cm long, 4 pieces are needed;
  • 4 pieces of corners made of copper, also tubes - for fixing parts together;
  • 2 connecting elements with the letter T;
  • 2 caps;
  • felt pads.

Let's look at the build process step by step:

  1. The finished product should fit on the floor, so measure the desired space. According to the above data, the hanger will not be small. Start collecting legs first. Fasten the tubes 20 cm in length with connecting elements, also make with the second pair.
  2. Put a cap on the finished legs, it will prevent dirt and dust from entering the structure.
  3. On the back of the pipes with caps, angles are attached, they should. The connecting element must be directed upwards.
  4. A meter pipe must be inserted into the corners, this is the base.
  5. Next, make side racks by inserting 1.5 m pipes into the connector.
  6. Almost everything is ready, it remains to attach the corners to the racks on the sides, and insert the last 1 m long pipe into them. Now the hanger is ready.
  7. If you do not want the structure to scratch the floor, stick felt pads into the base.

IMPORTANT! The stability of a hanger made of copper pipes is achieved by increasing the size of the structure.

Floor hanger made of PVC pipes

There is a more budget version of the product, you can make a hanger from PVC pipes. The principle of connecting the elements is similar to the previous design, but the material is several times cheaper. For manufacturing, you will need these parts of PVC pipes:

  • 6 pipe lengths of 12 cm, 1 length of 80 cm, 2 pcs of 20 cm, 1 pcs of 10 cm, the diameter of the segments should be 2.5 cm;
  • PVC pipe with a diameter of 2 cm, a length of 50 cm is cut into 3 parts of 15 cm;
  • 4 corners 2.5 cm in diameter;
  • 3 corners 2 cm in diameter;
  • connecting elements T-shaped 6 pieces;
  • adapters from 2.5 to 1.5 cm 4 pieces of PVC;
  • adapters from 2.5 cm to 2 cm 3 pieces of PVC;
  • special glue for PVC pipes;
  • spray paint.

So, if you can cut the pipes yourself - great, if not, ask the store when purchasing the material to cut the PVC into the necessary blanks.

IMPORTANT! Sand the edges of the pipes at home so that there are no cuts during assembly.

In order not to avoid assembly errors, and to facilitate the process, decompose all pipe segments into different groups:

  • for the stand you will need: corners 4 pieces, adapters 4 pieces from 2.5 to 1.5 cm, 3 connecting elements, 6 labor of 12 cm in length:
  • for clothing holders you need: 1 connector, 1 adapter, from 2.5 to 2 cm, 1 pipe length 15 cm, and a corner 2 cm in diameter;
  • stand: tube 80 cm, length 1 piece, 2 segments 20 cm, 1 segment 10 cm.

Assemble the stand as shown in the photo. To do this, connect the pipe segments with T-shaped elements. It should turn out 3 designs, insert one between each other, make legs on which the hanger will stand, putting corners on the edges.

Next, we make the hands of the product, you need to put on each other the elements that lie in your pile for the clothes holder.

Then came the turn of the pipe segment, 80 cm long. It must be inserted into the connecting element, put the hangers on it, then attach the pipe segment 20 cm, and the next hand on it. Continue to assemble such images of the construction to the end. The final stage of assembly - put the cap on top of the product.

It is desirable to smear all elements with glue for PVC, then the hanger will become stronger. The next step will be painting, choose a color to your taste.

IMPORTANT! You can weight the hanger with sand or small stones. They fall asleep inside and the hanger becomes stable.
