Laptop Keyboard Key Assignment Description

Most of the buttons on the keyboard for a computer are designed for typing. But around the letter keys there is still a certain number of those that are used less often, and many people do not even guess what this is for. In this article, you can find instructions for using most keys.

Key Assignment

The block of keys located above the arrows on the right side of the keyboard provides cursor navigation within the window displayed for the user. You can increase or decrease the number of functions. Functions for each of the keys:

  • Insert A key whose function is to switch from insert mode to replace mode. The text that was supposed to be inserted will be entered instead of already typed. This button allows you to insert text where it cannot be done under normal circumstances. A number of modern programs require the inclusion in the settings of the possibility of using additional functions to use Insert. If you combine Ctrl with this key, the text will be copied, and a combination with Shift will allow you to paste the copied.
  • Home The result of pressing this button varies depending on the area in which the user is currently located. In the file manager, pressing this key transfers the selection to the first file in the list, and in Microsoft Word to the beginning of the line. In browsers, this button will move the view to the very top of the current page.
  • End. The effect is the opposite of the previous button. The selection is transferred to the end of the list of files in the selected folder or to the end of the line in text editors. If we are talking about the news feed in the browser, then the view of the monitor will only move to the part of the page that managed to load, and not to the end. Both keys facilitate navigation in folders where a huge number of files are located. The user can get access to a specific file by starting to enter a name.
  • Page Up. According to the literal translation, under any conditions, this key moves the view one screen up, or to the stop, if there is too little space.
  • Page Down. The exact opposite of the previous button, lowers the monitor one view down. The capabilities of both buttons will help to read or view a long news feed without using a mouse.
  • Del (Delete). Delete key When you click this button, the selected object in the file manager will be prepared for moving to the trash, the user will be asked a standard question about deletion, which can be answered with the enter key (Enter).
  • Print Screen. Pressing this button allows you to copy the screen view that is active at the time of its use to the clipboard. The image can be inserted into Paint, Microsoft Word or any graphics editor. The mouse cursor will not be visible, but the pop-ups that appear when you hover over something will be saved.

Note! In games, such a button will work if they are launched in windowed mode or through an emulator. In other cases, the game provides its buttons for creating screenshots.

  • Scroll Lock It is used in some editors to enable document navigation without losing the cursor position. The user will use the direction buttons, moving around the text, but will begin to print in the place where the selection was left before the inclusion of this function.
  • Pause Break. Pauses the computer boot, which will allow you to carefully examine the data displayed on the screen at startup. Resume turning on will help any of the other buttons.
